Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella invests in fintech unicorn Groww

The Bengaluru-based online investment forum Groww today announced that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has joined the company as an investor and consultant. The company has not yet disclosed the financial details of the agreement yet.

“Groww gets one of the world’s leading CEOs as an investor and consultant. We are pleased that @satyanadella has joined us in our campaign to make financial services accessible in India, ”Laal Keshre, CEO and Founder of Groww, tweeted.

Through this fundraiser, Groww will focus on making financial services accessible and transparent to the people of India. The company also plans to continue to make significant investments in disseminating financial education and awareness.

Indian origin Satya Nadella is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of US-based technology company Microsoft.

The financial announcement comes two months after collecting $ 251 million in the Series E cycle for a group of investors, including Tiger Global, Ribbit, Sequoia, Propel, Steadfast, among others. The round called for a $ 3 billion launch.

Launched in 2017 by former Flipkart employees Lalit Keshre, Harsh Jain, Neeraj Singh, and Ishan Bansal, Groww offers an online investment platform for users looking to invest in Mutual Funds, Equity market, Fixed Deposit, and Gold.

Currently, the online investment forum claims to have more than 20 million users in its area, with 70% of its investors coming from Tier 2 and 3 sites. It competes with Zerodha, Upstox, Paytm Money, among many others.
